Shabbat Services
Lighting the Shabbat Candles Please join us for prayer, music, and fellowship at our various Shabbat services led by Rabbi Kupetz and Cantor Buch. A variety of services are available to meet the diverse needs of our congregants, including Tot Shabbat, K-3 services, lay-led Saturday morning services, standard Erev Shabbat services, and more! Please join us, and be sure to stop by the Welcome Table to introduce yourself. Most services are followed by an oneg. See calendar for details.

Host an Oneg for Shabbat
At TBI one of the oldest and friendliest of traditions is to end each Shabbat service with a special treat: the Oneg, where we enjoy a literal taste of the sweetness of Shabbat. Oneg Shabbat literally means “the joy of Shabbat” and has come to also mean the time of food and fellowship following Shabbat services. When you provide Oneg treats, you bring the joy of Shabbat to our congregation, and you have the opportunity to celebrate Shabbat yourself at TBI.

In order to ensure that this tradition continues throughout the year, we will be contacting TBI members to ask you to take a turn to provide Oneg refreshments on those Fridays when Oneg hosts have not been scheduled.  As an Oneg “co-host”, we ask that you, along with other co-hosting families, provide a tray of about 25 pieces of pastry (i.e. cookies, brownies, etc.) or a fruit tray. The tray should be set out in the Social Hall, covered with plastic wrap, before the service begins. Trays and plastic wrap are available in the TBI kitchen for your convenience.

If you would prefer to provide a monetary donation in lieu of a food tray, please send your donation to TBI with the date that you would like to be recognized as a co-host (note: not all dates will be available). Your contribution to our Shabbat celebration will be recognized during the Bimah announcements unless you choose to remain anonymous.

Hosting an Oneg is not only a Mitzvah but a way for you to celebrate an event in your family and share the simchah with our TBI community. Think of hosting to commemorate birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, awards, graduations, and other happy occasions. You can also host an Oneg in memory of a loved one on the occasion of their Yahrzeit. Of course, providing an Oneg is its own reward as you provide enjoyment for our community after Erev Shabbat services.

This is one mitzvah opportunity that is fun, easy, and very rewarding. If you have questions or are interested in being a co-host or sole sponsor, please call the TBI Office at 909-626-1277 or email the temple. Thank you in advance for your support.

Shalom
