The Temple Beth Israel Brotherhood

In 2018, the TBI Brotherhood celebrated its 50th Anniversary of serving our community. The main purpose of Brotherhood to enhance the quality of life for all members of TBl, with the emphasis on the MEN of the Congregation.

We support the betterment of Temple Beth Israel locally in the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys as well as being a member of the National Men of Reform Judaism (MRJ). We take pride by wearing our “TBI Brotherhood” shirts with our TBI Brotherhood designation, Star of David, and our personal names at all events associated with the synagogue so everyone knows who we are. Many of our members also get involved in the decision making of the synagogue by serving on the Board of Trustees and sitting on one or more committees that benefit the TBI cause.

Another important facet of the Brotherhood are the fund raising activities we put on such as bingo, magic shows, and BBQs, where we donate the proceeds to various funds activities such as the Rabbi’s Campership Fund. On the lighter side, Brotherhood is involved with many Beit Sefer activities such as breakfasts, “Get Acquainted” Nights, and Family Get Togethers at both the beginning and ending of the school year. We also have our own Brotherhood Shabbat once a year on a Friday evening.

During the year, we will have weekly lunches at local restaurants, golf and fishing outings, Poker Nights, and have an annual Super Bowl Event either at a member’s home or in the TBI Social Hall. We engage in Tikun Olam by supporting a book drive for TBI’s Jewish Renewal in Poland Project, assist with the Mitzvah and High Holy Days Food Drives and most recently are an active group participating with the Scouting troops sponsored by the synagogue. We welcome ALL men to come and attend our monthly meetings which are usually the 1st (first) Sunday of every month., but check the TBI Website/Calendar for upcoming events. Come and kibbutz over bagels and lox, share ideas about TBI, listen to some learned speakers and just enjoy a nice Sunday morning.
