Our nurturing program supports both child and family. Together we try to promote the development of the whole child individually and within a social setting.
Children are divided into age groups in the morning preschool program, based on their age in September. Children need to be 2 years old prior to enrollment and 2 year olds do not have to be using the toilet independently before enrollment. Children who are enrolled in the full day program are in a mixed-age group in the afternoons.
The school year is from September to mid-June, with an optional summer session. There is a 2-week Winter Break and a 1-week Spring Break. During the second week of winter break and the week of spring break, child care is available for those children enrolled in fulltime daycare. Between the end of the summer session and the beginning of the school year, there is a 2 week closure. Parents register their children each spring for the following school year, with a separate registration for the summer. Enrollment is open during the school year as space is available.
TBI Preschool is open 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. At TBI Preschool, children benefit from a wonderful balance of child-centered and teacher-directed activities, separate morning age groups and an afternoon mixed age group, with the integration of secular and Jewish curriculum. Temple Beth Israel is a Jewish preschool open to the community. National and Jewish holidays are observed. The integration of Judaism into our early childhood program makes Shabbat a highlight of our school week and creates the understanding of mitzvot, among other early Jewish experiences. For those families who aren’t Jewish, it’s an opportunity to learn about Judaism and share in traditions with friends.
